Sébastien Güngör Bernard is a queer, part-French Turkish writer and poet born—and currently based—in Istanbul.
He graduated with a BA in Philosophy from Vassar College, then worked for a literary agency in NYC, an art foundation in Istanbul, and a language school in Maputo, Mozambique. He earned his MFA in Poetry from The New School.
His poetry collection was a finalist for the Nightboat Books Award of 2022, while a chapbook version made it to finalist for the Omnidawn Poetry Contest judged by Victoria Chang. Works therein were also one of five finalists for the BWR Poetry Prize judged by Tommy Pico.
His poems have received two Pushcart nominations, one Best of the Net nomination, and a listing in Entropy’s “Best of 2019: Favorite Poems Published Online”.
Sébastien was a 2018 Poets House Emerging Poets Fellow.
